The two giants of the classic era in music formulated the musical structures that continue to govern the standard repertory. This course examines the musical world of 1750'1810, its sources and manifestations, and its influences on the future of Western music. Analysis of works, preparation of academically sound interpretative and descriptive notes accessible to the non-specialist reader.
