MUSIC 1335 - MUSICAL STYLES: BEETHOVEN

Beethoven towers over Western music like a god. This course examines the place of this composer in the musical world of 1785'1830, focusing on his sources of inspiration and his influences on the future of Western music. Students analyze the formal design of Beethoven's major works, to discover how he turns audience expectations to his advantage.
