In this course, we will explore the form of the personal blog, examining the way expectations intersect with creative nonfiction and feature writing and also depart from it. We'll examine the functions of teaching, persuading, curating, and, in particular, storytelling, looking at methods of reaching and moving audiences in a relatively short form as well as using social media to attract readers, cultivating an online presence and sense of community, and using a blog to establish a platform for your other writing. We'll look at models of online blogs as well as blogs that became books. GE Arts
