HPEDU 1321 - METHODS OF TEACHING HEALTHMinimum Credits: 3 Maximum Credits: 3 This course will cover the foundations of health promotion. A survey of health promotion concepts is covered, as well as issues related to the theory and practice of health promotion. Models of health behavior are utilized. Controversial issues in the field of health promotion are also discussed, including performance enhancing drugs as well as recreational drugs. Also, a big portion of this class will focus on mental health and mental health issues. Several different methods of teaching will be addressed along with many resources, handouts and classroom activities students can use in the Health classroom. Students will also practice peer-teaching to enhance their classroom skills and critique each other. Academic Career: Undergraduate Course Component: Lecture Grade Component: LG/SNC Elective Basis Course Requirements: Prerequisite: UPB Admission to Education is required in order to register for this course.
