HIST 0128 - GLOBAL HISTORYMinimum Credits: 3 Maximum Credits: 3 This survey course addresses global history from the beginning of "civilization" to the end of the 20th century, focusing on three main themes: the rise of states and the development of modern politics, the development and expansion of trade and commerce, and the development of the world's major cultural groupings and cultural identities. In addition to general chronology of the period, this course explores how the world grew more interconnected over time, and course readings include first-hand accounts of encounters, cooperation, and conflict between different cultural groups.
