HIST 0214 - THE GLOBAL COLD WARMinimum Credits: 3 Maximum Credits: 3 This intermediate-level course addresses major events, figures and themes in the history of the Cold War, with an emphasis on the conflict's global nature. It considers the political, military, social, and cultural history of the Cold War, including questions of hard and soft power, foreign interventions by the superpowers, and nonaligned and third force movements that sought to escape the logic of a world split in two. Finally, it considers how the Cold War continues to shape present-day geopolitics, as well as social and political life in the former western and eastern blocs as well as in "nonaligned" nations.
