ADMJ 1306 - CRIME, JUSTICE, & THE MENTALLY DISORDEREDMinimum Credits: 3 Maximum Credits: 3 This course provides students with the theoretical and applied understanding of how crime, justice, and mental illness intersect from a systematic perspective, and the knowledge of various forms of mental disorder and disabilities that criminal justice professionals will likely confront in people during their careers. This course will enable students to identify those who need to be deferred into specialty courts such as mental health, drug and domestic violence courts, as well as management of the mentally ill once they are detained. Techniques for managing a mental health crisis in victims and offenders will also be addressed.
