CHEM 1437 - INORGANIC CHEMISTRYMinimum Credits: 3 Maximum Credits: 3 This course is designed for chemistry majors and other students that require knowledge of inorganic chemistry. Topics that will be covered in the course include molecular orbital and valence bond theories. Hybridization and structure of inorganic molecules. Concept of hard and soft acids and bases. Chemistry in aqueous and non-aqueous media. Redox stability and redox reaction. Metals and alloys- Mechanical properties. Description chemistry of transition metal series and introduction to coordination chemistry. Nomenclature of inorganic compounds. Introduction to radiochemistry. Ligand and crystal field theories. There will be a separate syllabus for the lab component.
