EDUC 1301 - INSTRUCTIONAL AND ASSISTIVE TECHNOLOGY

This course is designed for teacher candidates to explore pedagogical strategies and technological techniques for creating and modifying instructional resources to meet the diverse needs of all students, including those with disabilities. Emphasis is placed on instructional design models that promote inclusive education, ensuring access to the general curriculum for students with a range of abilities. Candidates will learn how to implement adaptive and augmentative technology to enhance learning experiences for students with physical, cognitive, and sensory disabilities. Through the use of specific instructional design models, students will apply evidence-based instructional theories in designing an inclusive instructional unit that addresses the needs of learners with disabilities and supports differentiated instruction. The course also focuses on legal and ethical responsibilities regarding the accommodation of students with disabilities in classroom settings.
