PEDC 0174 - FUNDAMENTALS OF ICE SKATING

To teach students basic skills or improve the skills that they currently possess. Students will develop an understanding of the preparation for ice skating, ice skating equipment, and ice skating etiquette. Fundamental principles and skills introduced include: posture; pushing and gliding; stopping; forward/backward stroking, and crosscuts; and, turning and rolling. Depending upon the skill and progress of the student, basic dance skills, and preliminary dances (Dutch waltz & canasta tango) may be introduced.
