Program Description:
The GSWS minor is an interdisciplinary minor that critically examines the construction of gender identity and sexuality in both the U.S. and globally. The curriculum explores the impact of social, cultural, historic, economic, and political influences on identity, the fluidity of gender identity and sexuality, and the intersections of gender identity and sexuality with other aspects of identity. It also seeks to raise awareness about the experiences, economic conditions, contributions, and human rights concerns of women and members of the LBGTQ community. Students are encouraged to participate in applied experiences such as service learning, internships, research, and study abroad, which expose them to gender identity and sexuality in multicultural and international contexts.
